Well, this is a new experience for me. I have so many other jobs/duties/responsibilities that a blog just doesn't fit in, but then again...
I've been quilting for about 5 years now and in many areas still consider myself a beginner although I did have a block chosen to be in the Palm Beach County Quilters' Guild contest quilt, "Hurray for Hollywood". I did a pieced star for the walk of fame and didn't realize at the time that I must have done a very good job on the piecing since I heard many comments from experienced quilters complimenting my lines and other comments from ladies who at first thought the star was appliqued.
That leads me to one of my standard beliefs: if you don't know you can't do something, you CAN do it! After all, my first challenge quilt was to the theme of "In My Garden", so here I am, fresh out the door and making a garden quilt with all these little hexigons not knowing what I was doing and sewing them all on the sewing machine to boot! Turned out great, considering. Don't know where it is at this time but I'll post pics when I find it in my mountains of fabric and UFOs.
My favorite sayings are "Don't Plan Too Far Ahead" followed closely by "I meant to do that!" After all, if you don't plan too far ahead, you can be more creative by changing the pattern/design/intent as you go and as the project leads you. Thus the reasoning for part 2: "I meant to do that!" becomes my favorite excuse for those aformentioned changes.
Well, more to be posted soon, then a week's lapse since I'm going to Puerto Rico for a week and won't be back until the 15th of February. I wish you all a wonderful Valentine's Day!
